PLASTIC BAG BAN: The Botswana government has passed a law banning plastic bags effective November 1, 2018. While not specified currently we expect the ban to include Ziploc and those used for packing. Multiuse toiletry bags are not part of the ban. Failure to comply could result in large fines. Since enforcement specifics are still in question, we advise that all travelers to Botswana avoid packing plastic bags in checked or carry-on luggage. Plastic bags for items purchased at the airport, including duty free, should be left on the plane when disembarking.
