A Big New Chapter for The Joy of Travel
Exactly one year ago, I traveled to Africa on a custom itinerary created by an extraordinary locally based tour company.
What I expected was a great trip.
What I found was something much bigger.
I met the founder, traveled alongside key members of their team, and experienced firsthand the care, authenticity, and deep local connection they bring to every journey they create.
By the end of the trip, I knew this was something I wanted to be part of in a much bigger way.
So I made a bold move.
The Joy of Travel now has direct ownership involvement in an Africa-focused tour company, and I am personally managing its U.S. operations.
This isn’t just another supplier relationship or partnership.
It means I’m now directly involved in shaping the kinds of experiences we bring travelers across Africa — working closely with the people on the ground who design and deliver these journeys every day.
And after experiencing it myself, I couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead.
What makes these journeys special isn’t flashy luxury or “bucket list” tourism. It’s the feeling of being genuinely connected to a place and its people. It’s the guides who know the land intimately. The conversations you remember years later. The moments that quietly change the way you see the world.
This new company will also be the operator behind my 2027 Kenya & Tanzania group journey, and it will handle future Africa group departures and custom itineraries booked through The Joy of Travel moving forward.
That means even deeper local expertise, stronger on-the-ground relationships, and experiences designed with the kind of care and intentionality I’ve always wanted for my clients.
Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing more stories, itineraries, and opportunities for travel across Africa — from wildlife and landscapes to culture, food, history, and meaningful human connection.
If Africa has been sitting quietly on your “someday” list, I’d love to help you explore what’s possible.
